Ayurveda is translated as "The Science, or Knowledge, of Life". Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine, approaching health from a "whole person" (mind, body, senses and soul) perspective. In Ayurveda, we seek to understand the root cause of an imbalance in order to help alleviate the symptoms of the underlying condition or illness.
Ayurveda recognizes that we are all unique individuals, enabling us to address your specific health concerns.' By deeply understanding what contributes to our own health and happiness, we can achieve an optimal state of well-being and realize our full self-potential.
Ayurveda is an excellent form of preventative medicine as we learn how to recognize imbalances before they manifest into disease. There are always signs and symptoms about what is going on within us, and when we know how to "listen", we can make any necessary corrections through our daily diet and lifestyle choices. This principle focuses on understanding your particular body & mind constitution (prakriti), and the nature of your imbalance at any given moment (vikruti).
Ayurveda is not about quick fixes, although you will see and feel many immediate benefits. Living an ayurvedic lifestyle encourages each individual to take action and responsibility for his or her own health. By making adjustments specific to your needs, with the guidance of your practitioner, you may enjoy positive outcomes in all aspects of your life!
"Ayurveda teaches that we are not passive victims of pathogenic forces, but can substantially impact our quality of life through the choices and interpretations we make. By reducing the toxins and increasing the nourishing influences we ingest, we can transform our minds and bodies"
